Insight Eyecare sponsors free Archery Super-tuning Event in time for bow hunting season
Archers can evaluate and optimize their equipment with the first tuning system on the market that uses microelectronics technology to take performance measurements.
August 4, 2014 — They say practice makes perfect, but not for an archer whose ballistics are off to begin with. In time for bow hunting season, Dr. Jeff Pinkerton of Insight Eyecare is sponsoring a free Archery Super-tuning Event to take the imprecision and guesswork out of equipment performance, target shooting and bow hunting.
Archers should bring their bow and arrows and come prepared to shoot at the event, taking place from 8 am to 3 pm on Saturday, August 23 at East Texas Hardware, located at 1111 N. Kilgore Street in Kilgore.
This is not a basic bow tune-up but a rare opportunity to use the state-of-the-art Velocitip Ballistic System by Full Flight Technology. The system measures a bow’s performance at any distance as well as precise trajectory, aerodynamic efficiency, launch and impact speeds, arrow drag, momentum and kinetic energy. With this information, master bow technicians Jeff Beall and Kevin Offerding can super-tune archers’ equipment, for free, and make them better shooters and hunters.
In addition, East Texas Hardware is offering 10% off new bows the day of the event.
The Velocitip system addresses common concerns among bow hunters: Are my arrows flying straight and true? Do they vibrate or make noise in the field? Do my bow and arrows pack enough power to take down game swiftly and ethically?
The system consists of a field point with built-in microelectronic system that activates when the arrow leaves the bow and when it strikes the target while measuring arrow performance more than a thousand times in between. After shooting, the field point is removed from the arrow and plugged into a docking station for immediate data processing and display. The Velocitip system is on loan from event sponsor Dr. Jeff Pinkerton of Insight Eyecare as part of his ongoing commitment to promote archery as a lifelong pastime. He also sponsors Union Grove ISD archery events.
